The Herd

Regional milk supplies are minimal making milk costs very high. The result is that most families do not have access to milk or other forms of protein. Our goal is to build a herd of 30 to 35 cows that can produce milk to supplement school lunch programs and supply an orphanage and leprosy camp with milk daily. An initial investment of approximately $11,500 (CDN) per herd is required. With herds in place, OnMission can support the instruction of students at both the primary and secondary schools in herd management and husbandry. The science teachers are extremely supportive of this initiative – one teacher called this development a "miracle the school could never have even dreamed of before."
