Women's Security
Due to physical challenges Conslata was living in poverty in a poorly constructed mud home – she lived in a remote isolated place, so was vulnerable to violent attacks. We could not let this situation persist. Supported by OnMission, iCAN acquire land within Kusumwa and built a small secure home appropriate for her needs and that of her family. Conslata (who has been paraplegic from a young age) has asked me to extend her gratitude and blessings to the OnMission team. She and her children now live securely and with the help of iCAN she is managing her crops for food and a small profit has allowed her to purchase other necessities. The village government in has offered additional land to iCAN if OnMission would commit to an investment of $30,000 for the construction of three more homes, washrooms and the planting of crops. The three young women in view have physical challenges, experienced violence and live at risk. With land provided, this project is viable within this budget. We are seeking donors to help in the construction and establish farms.
